Bio
Velda Maurine (Wegner) Sathoff, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Werling) Wegner, was born August 16, 1929, in rural Armstrong, Iowa. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 9, 2009, at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 80. She received her education in a rural Armstrong one room school, where the Wegner children made up the majority of the students. On March 20, 1948, Velda was united in marriage to Edwin Sathoff in Blue Earth, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in the Ringsted and Armstrong area. Velda owned and operated the 9-Inn Restaurant known for her hot beef sandwiches and her pie. Mr. Sathoff passed away November 23, 1990. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Left to cherish Velda's memory are her children, Linda Fothergill and her husband, Earl of Armstrong; David Sathoff and his wife, Joyce of Shivley, Kentucky; Jeanette and Jeff Nelson of Rogersville, Missouri; Brenda Hatfield and her husband, Dave of East Chain, Minnesota; Terry Sathoff and his wife, Becky of Armstrong; Rick Sathoff and special friend, Val Jones of Armstrong; Mark Sathoff and his wife, Amy of Dolliver; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Florence Pytleski and Lillian Johnson both of Fairmont and Dorothy Johnson and Don Wegner all of Armstrong. Preceding Velda in death were a her parents; husband; two sons, Brian and Allen; brothers, Clyde, Earl and Robert Wegner; and sisters, Luella Hanson, Norma Jorgensen, Pearl Borowiak, Fern Nawrocki, Arlene Wegener, Jean Sathoff and Gladys Mart.
