Fort Bend Herald, July 6, 2006: Funeral services for Erna Sury, age 95, of Needville, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2006, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church Street in Needville. The Rev. Jim Aubey will officiate and burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. A time of visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville. Mrs. Sury passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in Needville. She was born in Needville, Texas September 29, 1910 to parents Henry and Minnie Deiss Schwettmann. She loved to be with family and friends, cooking for others, and playing cards and dominoes. She loved her church, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, and attended regularly. For years she was employed at local grocery stores. Her sisters, Leola Schmidt and Hilda Kalinowski, survive her along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Sury; siblings, Charlotte Hedt, Fritz Schwettmann, Lydia Schwettmann, Nellie Schwettmann, Louise Jeske, Henry Schwettmann, August Schwettmann, Arnold Schwettmann, Sophie Cario, and Raymond Schwettmann. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Emil Straznicky, Steve Schwettmann, C.D. Kalinowski, Gary Kalinowski, Neal Kalinowski, and Larry Cario. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Hedt, Melvin Hedt, Wayne Schmidt, and Gerald Schwettmann. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church Street, Needville, Texas 77461.
