Fort Bend Herald, September 10, 2014: Hilda Schwettmann Kalinowski passed away September 8, 2014 in Needville, Texas. She was born February 16, 1918, the 11th of 13 children born to Henry and Minnie Deiss Schwettmann. She attended grammar school through 7th grade at Williams School in Needville. Hilda fell in love and married Ike Kalinowski on November 28, 1939. After helping her husband on the farm, she worked as a school cook in Needville ISD for 26 years, where she made many friends with teachers, administrators, and students alike. She was a lifelong member and supporter of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church of Needville. She is survived by her sons, C.D. Kalinowski and Corlis, Gary (Buck) Kalinowski, Neal and wife, Carol Kalinowski; daughter-in-law, Pat Kalinowski; beloved grandsons, Tim and wife, Sue, Aaron and wife, Connie, Justin Kalinowski and Brenda; granddaughter, Kelli; and great-grandchildren, Cody, Walker, Jodi, and Rylan Kalinowski. She also leaves behind her devoted sister, Leola Schmidt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many relatives and lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her parents; husband; siblings; son, Virel; and grandchildren, Nikki, Ryan, and Troy Allen Kalinowski. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Garmany and Carden Funeral Home, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461. Funeral services will be at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church St, Needville, TX 77461, at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 12, with Rev. Jonathan Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Needville Public Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or the Needville High School Scholarship Fund, or charity of one’s choice. Special and heartfelt thanks are extended to Ruthie Stredick, her caretaker, the staff and nurses of SPJST Rest Home, and the staff of Houston Hospice of El Campo for their care and concern.
