Rosenberg Herald, November 7, 1947: Funeral services were held for Mr. William Tielke from the Immanuel Evangelical Church of Needville, Sunday, Nov. 2nd, at 2:15 p.m., Rev. William E. Scholze, pastor officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Evangelical Church Cemetery. Mr. Tielke was born Sept. 30, 1865 in Westfalen, Germany. In September of 1882 he came to America, disembarking in Galveston on his birthday, Sept. 30. He made his home in Washington County. On Dec. 6, 1888, he was united in holy matrimony with Miss Caroline Tiemann. To this union was born eleven children--eight sons and three daughters; two of the sons died in infancy; one son, John preceded him in death in 1939. In 1909 Mr. Tielke came with his family to Fort Bend County where he lived in the Needville Community until his death. He was a successful farmer, and though often it became really hard and difficult, he ventured forth with his family and succeeded in accumulating a modest portion of this world's goods. He lived in his present home for 34 years. Only once was it recalled that he was rather sick, keeping his health until about 10 days ago, when he became ill. After several days, he was taken to the Fort Bend Hospital in Rosenberg, where he met his death, Saturday morning, Nov. 1st, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 1 day. Surviving and mourning his departure are his wife, Mrs. Caroline Tielke; three daughters, Mrs. Selma Oberhoff of Needville, Mrs. Martha Wieghat of Needville, and Mrs. Emma Bremer of Needville; five sons, Fritz, Willie, Albin, Erich, and Henry, all of Needville; one brother and one sister in Grimes County; one brother and two sisters in Germany; 37 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Reinhardt Tielke, Ernst Oberhoff, Le Roy Tielke, Bernie Tielke, Lawrence Wieghat, Elgin Tielke. Services were under the direction of the Foerster Funeral Home.
