Bio

Herald Coaster, November 19, 1973: Funeral services for Eric H. Tielke, 70, of Needville, were held Monday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville with Rev. Donald Kolkmeier and Rev. Larry Bremer officiating. Burial for the former Needville mayor was in the church's cemetery. He died Friday in a Galveston hospital following a lengthy illness. Tielke was a native of William Penn, Texas and moved to Fort Bend County as a child. He has served for 17-1/2 years prior to his death as Needville's mayor. He has been the past president of the Needville Lion's Club; past president of his church congregation; past member of the voluntary fire department; and a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Anna; sisters, Mrs. Selma Oberhoff and Mrs. Emma Bremer of Needville; two brothers, Alvin and Henry of Needville; and two grandchildren.
