John "Fred" Plantenberg, 60, Crofton, NE, died July 7, 1925. Fred was born in the Province of Hessia in Germany to John and Mary Catherine Hass Plantenberg. He married Mary Ortmeier June 6, 1895 in St. Charles, NE. They ran a store and implement business in Aloys until they moved to Crofton, Knox County where they purchased land in 1912. To this union the following children were born, Mayme, 1896, Ann, 1897, Ferdinand, 1899, Casper, 1903, Herman, 1905, Martha, 1909, Bernadine, 1909, Fred A., 1913, Arthur, 1915, Emil, 1920. Interment is St. Rose Cemetery, Crofton, NE. Fred Plantenberg, an old settler of this county, has removed with his family to Crofton, Knox County, where he has purchased land. Norfolk Weekly News-Journal, Friday, March 15, 1912.
