Mother, Mrs. Mary Plantenberg, Rt. 2, Crofton." - Nebraska World War II Casualty List Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, 2011 Buried at St. Rose Cemetery, Crofton, NE. Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Emanuel, Jr., Bernard Emanuel and Barbara Emanuel returned Saturday from Crofton where they attended the funeral of Chief Petty Officer Fred Plantenberg, a brother of Mrs. Joseph Emanuel. Officer Plantenberg met an accidental death aboard a battle ship. Before his assignment to the battleship he had been rescued from a cruiser which was sunk in Pacific waters. A naval escort accompanied the body to Crofton where a military funeral was held. – News article – Mary Ann Emanuel
