Father: Fredrick Stevenson Mother: Harriett Bird Wife: Eliza Ann Borden Married: 21 Jan 1875 in Knox County, Indiana Marriage Record States names as: Ellis Stevenson to Eliza Ann Borden Note: Birth date was taken from the obit as opposed to the tombstone for two reasons. Some of the tombstones have been shown to have dates off when checking birth/death indexes and the age in the obit matches the census records. * * * * * * * * Lawrenceville Republican IL Thu, 5 Mar 1908 "Mr Stevenson died at his son, Riley's Monday evening of consumption. Funeral at Otterbein. Wednesday." Lawrence County News IL Thu, 12 March 1908 "BIRDS ... Ell Stevenson was buried in Otterbine(Otterbein) cemetery last week." Lawrence Republican IL 12 Mar 1908 Pg. 8 "El Stevenson was born in Rock Island county, Illinois, August 5, 1855; departed this life March 2, 1908, aged 53 years, 7 months and 2 days. He moved from that county in childhood to Lawrence county, near Birds Station, where he spent his life. He was married to Louisa Borden and to this union were born seven children, five of which died in childhood. The mother passed away October 15, 1907, leaving the father and two sons to mourn her loss. The father took consumption and soon followed on. Before his death he gave evidence of his conversion and was happy in Jesus. Funeral was conducted at the Otterbein church by Rev. I. N. Johnson, pastor of the M.E. Church at Allendale, Illinois, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Otterbein cemetery. Stevenson is his uncle Abt June 1909 - After Elliott and Eliza Stevenson die, guardianship is assigned to George W. Stevenson. Probate Book R Pg. 565 - states Herschel heir of estate of Elliott Stevenson deceased having reached age of fourteen years elects to nominate George W. Stevenson as his guardian The above proves that George W. Stevenson and Elliott Stevenson are brothers. The death record for George W. Stevenson states his father is Frederic Stevenson and mother is Harriet proving that they are listed with their parents on the census records who are in Otterbein cemetery.
