Marriage Information: 9 Dec 1842 in Guernsey County, Ohio between Harriet Bird and Frederic Stevenson Union Civil War Pension application for Oliver S. Davis' service Pg. 4 shows Frederic Stevenson is assigned as guardian for the children of Oliver S. Davis and Rebecca Bird-Davis . Pension application is for Oliver Davis' Civil War service and Frederic becomes involved upon Rebecca Bird-Davis' death listed as 25 Dec 1867 in Lawrence County IL. He takes on responsibility for caring for the Davis children. Oliver Davis died in the war on 14 Mar 1865 in Fayetteville, North Carolina according to the application. Application states Frederic was present when children were born to affirm ages. Pg. 6 George and Arthur Stevenson testify and state that they lived in the same house with Rebecca and Oliver for twenty years before their death and lived in the same house with Rebecca at the time of the births of her children. Frederic and Harriet marry in Guernsey County Ohio in 1842 and in 1841 in Guernsey County Ohio, Rebecca Bird (wife of John Bird) applies for a pension based on her previous husband's service in the War of 1812. This places all of the family in Guernsey County Ohio around the same time. On Pg. 10 of Oliver Davis' pension application, Rebecca Bird and Louisa Bird-Roland testify that they were present with Rebecca Bird-Davis for the birth of her children. Pg. 25 Arthur Bird and Abraham Waters (husband of Charlotte Bird) also testify on Rebecca Bird-Davis' behalf. This shows that Rebecca Bird-Davis, Louisa Bird-Roland, Harriet Bird-Stevenson, Charlotte Bird-Waters, and Arthur Bird are most likely relatives and children of John and Rebecca Bird. Arthur Bird is a confirmed son as the son of Elliott Bird lives with him on the 1880 census and is listed as a nephew. Elliott Bird's marriage record lists his parents as John Bird and Rebecca Hukill. Orphan Court records for the Oliver Davis children state Frederic Stevenson is their uncle proving that Harriet Bird-Stevenson and Rebecca Bird-Davis are sisters.
