Fred N Stevenson married Laura M. Jerrell, on May 18,1882 in Lawrence Co., IL. Marriage register states Fred born in Dekalb Co., IN and parents as Frederick Stevenson and Harriet Bird. Death date from funeral register, which gives age as 67 y 6 m 29 d.. Illinois Death and Stillbirth Index, 1916-1947, shows buried Oct. 14, 1926. [Black's Cemeteries of Lawrence Co. IL says 1923, obviously an error.] His wife, Laura Amanda Jerrell, (1865-1936), also buried in Otterbein Cemetery. He was a farmer. Death and Stillbirth Index also comments that he had been a resident of Lawrence Co. for 62 years. ∼ An old cemetery reading lists the tombstones for Fredrick Newton Stevenson & his wife Laura as next to Elliott, Eliza, & Joseph Stevenson. Marriage 18 May 1882 • Lawrence County, Illinois Fred N Stevenson to Laura M. Jerrell Marriage register states Fred is born in Dekalb County, IN and parents are Frederick Stevenson and Harriet Bird. Bride is born in Knox County, Indiana and is the daughter of Charles Jerrell and Jerusha West. Lawrence County News IL Wed, 13 Oct 1926 "BIRDS MAN DROPPED DEAD Newt Stevenson, of Birds, dropped dead Tuesday afternoon while working on the C. E. Gerhart farm, east of Birds. He was helping bale hay when he fell and expired instantly. It is said heart disease was the cause of death. Deceased was about 70 years old and is survived by several children."
