Wencil Joseph Kojetin was born on 17 May 1866, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, to Wencel and Anna Macholda Kojetin. A few years later, the family moved to Sand Creek Township in Scott County, Minnesota. In 1878, his parents sold their farm in Scott County, and moved to Beaver Falls Township, Renville County, where Wencil lived with his parents in a sod house for three years and worked on the farm. The family started attending mass at the Jacob Krell house in Bechyn, where mass was held four times a year. Six years later, Wencil and Jacob collected money to build a church. In 1880, Wencil helped build the first church in Bechyn. On 18 May 1891, Wencil married Mary A. Horejsi, the daughter of John and Barbora Hradiboski, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. After their marriage, Wencil and Mary farmed in Henryville Township and moved to Bechyn in 1927. Mary and Wencil had nine children, Mary, John, Anna, Josephine, Emma, Barbara, Wencil Emil, Johanna, and Angela Kojetin. Wencil Joseph Kojetin died on 13 November 1940. He was buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
