Bio
Mary A. Horejsi was born in Bechyne, Czechoslovakia, on 10 September 1871, to John and Barbora Hradiboski Horejsi. In 1889, at the age of 19, Mary came with her family to America. The family settled in Beaver Falls Township, Renville County, Minnesota. On 18 May 1891, Mary married Wencil Joseph Kojetin, the son of Wencel and Anna Macholda Kojetin, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. After their marriage, Mary and Wencil farmed in Henryville Township and moved to Bechyn in 1927. Mary and Wencil had nine children, Mary, John, Anna, Josephine, Emma, Barbara, Wencil Emil, Johanna, and Angela Kojetin. Mary’s husband, Wencil Joseph Kojetin, died on 13 November 1940. In 1963, Mary moved to Redwood Falls and lived with her daughter, Anna. Then, she moved to the Sunwood Nursing home where she lived for the three years prior to her death. Mary A. Horejsi Kojetin died, at the age of 98, on 14 April 1970. She was survived by eight children, 53 grandchildren, 202 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mary was held on 17 April in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mary was buried next to her husband, Wencil Joseph, in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
