Bio
Wencel Emil Kojetin was born on 21 May 1903, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Wencil Joseph and Mary Horejsi Kojetin. Wencel was baptized in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn and attended the Church for the majority of his life. When he was eight years old, Wencel served as an altar boy in the old church. In 1915, when the new Church was finished, Wencel served as an altar boy until he was eighteen years old, for Father Joe Tomek. On 18 October 1927, Father Jiracek married Wencel Emil and Catherine Mary Kodet the daughter of Joseph W. and Petrona (Pikle) Kodet in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. They had four children, Regina, Wencel, Jr., John, and Mary. It should be noted that Wencel and Catherine were married for 68 years and they died just four days apart in 1995. Wencel Emil Kodet died on 12 February 1995 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Morton, Minnesota; Father Edward L. Wojtowicz officiated. Pallbearers were John J. Kojetin, Katherine Nordby, James Pockrandt, Mary Boelter, Kristine Nordby, Helen Pusillo, Tim Kojetin, and Lisa Larson. Honorary Casket Bearers were Wencel’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wencel was buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
