Vaclav (Wencel) Kojetin was born on 20 September 1828, in Czechoslovakia. He married Anna Macholda and their first child, a son named John Kojetin, was born in about 1859. In July 1865, Vaclav, Anna, and John arrived in America. Sadly, their twin daughters, who were born on the ship during the trip to America, died and were buried at sea. Vaclav and Anna made their first home in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Their second son, Wencel John Kojetin was born in Chicago, on 17 May 1866. A few years later, they left Chicago, and bought a farm in Scott County, Minnesota. In Scott County, their third son, Frank Kojetin, was born in about 1870, and their daughter, Mary Ann “Maria” Kojetin, was born on 12 March 1872. In 1878, Vaclav and Anna sold their farm in Scott County and moved to Beaver Falls Township in Renville County, Minnesota. They built a sod house, farmed, and raised their family. Vaclav (Wencel) Kojetin died on 22 October 1908. He was buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
