The Wellington Leader November 30, 1972 A resident of the county for 74 years, Mrs. A.F. Null died in Collingsworth General Hospital at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, November 26. She was a resident of Thomas Nursing Home. Like many of those who came to Collingsworth County around the turn of the century, her family was from Denton County, where she was born August 7, 1894. The former Docia Elizabeth Rankin, she came with her parents, Robert R. and Laura Elizabeth Atkinson Rankin, to the Quail area in 1898. She grew up there and around Memphis. She was married to Mr. Null December 22, 1910 at Memphis and they farmed near Wellington until his death in April 1952. She moved into town several years ago. A member of Fundamental Baptist Church, she was long active in religious work. Surviving Mrs. Null are two sons, Rev. Fred Null of Manila and Ray Null; 6 daughters: Mrs. Leon Bishop of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Mrs. George Winegeart of Pampa, Mrs. Leo Thomas of Childress, Mrs. Ernest Lund of Port Orchard, Washington, Mrs. Bill Hughes of Plainview and Mrs. J.D. Young. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Birsbin; five half sisters, Mrs. C.E. Childress of Canadian, Mrs. Weldon Lane of Childress, Mrs. George Shinn of Perryton, Mrs. Elbert Watts and Mrs. Lela Maxwell; two half brothers, Howard Rankin of Tulia and Arthur Rankin of Littlefield; 22 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
