Esther Rankin Watts Esther Watts, a lifetime resident of Collingsworth County, died in Childress, Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at the age of 95. Funeral services were held at 1 pm Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev James McLeod, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Russell Shinn, Dale Rankin, Gerald Rankin, Dean Maxwell, James Rankin and David Lane. Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home. Born May 7, 1906 to Robert Russell and Virginia Ray Rankin in the Buck Creek Community of Collingsworth County, she married Elbert Watts Nov. 28, 1928 in Childress. He preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Watts worked as a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is also preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Elain Watts of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be made to the Wellington Cemetery Association. Wellington Leader Thursday, October 14, 2001
