Bio

CHILDRESS - Berniece B. Lane, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Wood, music minister, and the Rev. Jim McCurley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Lane was born in McLean and had lived in Childress since 1933. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School class. She married Weldon Lane in 1933 at Memphis. He died in 1984. She also was preceded in death by a son, Claude Lane, in 1996. Survivors include five sons, Daniel Lane and Jerry Lane, both of Cedar Hill, David Lane of Claude, Joe Lane of Lakewood, Colo., and Ted Lane of Irving; a sister, Esther Watts of Wellington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
