Rosenberg Herald, October 19, 1945: The entire community mourns the death of one of its beloved citizens, Mrs. George Hajdik, which occurred at the family home Saturday, October 6, 1945, at 11:45 a.m., at the age of 68 years, 4 months, and 14 days. Funeral services for Mr. Hajdik were held from the family home Tuesday morning, October 9th, at 9:30 and at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10 o'clock, with a High Requiem Mass being offered by Rev. Alois Nesvadba of Wallis, assisted by Rev. Jerome Tydlacka of Rosenberg and Rev. Lad Klemicek of Frydek. Rev. James Kveton of Sealy spoke kind words of comfort in behalf of the deceased and in a touching way, pointed out the virtues of Mr. Hajdik, one of the oldest and most outstanding members of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Isidor Lodge, and the S.P.J.S.T. No. 108 Lodge. Burial for Mr. Hajdik was at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in the presence of hundreds who gathered to pay their last tribute to a beloved friend and neighbor. The beautiful floral offering was an example of the many friends Mr. Hajdik had. The active pallbearers were John Kamencak, Anton Barcak, Willie Barcak of Richmond, Louis Poncik, Louis Tejml of Rosenberg, and John Holub of Beasley. Mr. Hajdik was born in Czechoslovakia, Europe on May 22, 1877. In 1900, he married Anna Sefcik. He came to America in May 1911 and, with his family settled, in Smithville, Texas, afterwards moving to Cistern, Texas, then to Needville, Texas, and finally moved to Rosenberg where he bought a farm and where he lived until his death. Those who mourn his passing are his heartbroken wife, Mrs. Anna Hajdik; ten daughters, Mrs. Frances Chovanec, Mrs. Mary David, Mrs. Cecilia David, Mrs. Rosalie Antrich, Misses Tillie and Georgia Hajdik of Rosenberg, Mrs. Agnes Drabek of Needville, Misses Ann and Lillian Hajdik of Houston; one daughter preceded him in death in Europe at the age of three months; two sons, Mr. Johnnie Hajdik, manager of the F.B.C. Food Market of Rosenberg and Cpl. Joe E. Hajdik of the U.S. Army, stationed at Tokyo, Japan, who was unable to attend his father's funeral; one brother, Frank Hajdik of Czechoslovakia; 18 grandchildren; one cousin, Martin Hajdik of Sealy. To the bereaved loved ones, most sincere sympathy is extended by a host of friends.
