Bio

Herald Coaster, August 15, 2002: A funeral mass for Mary Elizabeth Hajdik David, beloved mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 South Fourth St. in Richmond. Father Howard Drabek will officiate the services. Interment will follow at West Gethsemane Cemetery in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Serving as pallbearers are Alfonce Drabek, Rudy Antrich, Frank Chovanec, Jerry Drabek, Clarence Krejci Jr., and Steve Petrosky. Mary was born in Czechoslovakia Aug. 19, 1909 to George Hajdik and Anna Sevcik Hajdik and came with her parents at age 2 to the United States, landing in Galveston. She resided in the Rosenberg/Richmond area for many years. She retired as a practical nurse in 1974 from Diagnostic Hospital in Houston. She passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Fort Bend Healthcare Center in Rosenberg. Mary was a charter member of Holy Rosary KJZT Society No. 77 in Rosenberg and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Daughters in Houston. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dennis David, in 1945; her son, Frank Johnny David, in 1995; her parents, Anna and George Hajdik; her sisters, Cecilia David, Frances Chovanec, Agnes Drabek-Kveton, and Ann Polak; and her brother, Johnny Hajdik. Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betty (Vincik) David; her grandson, Dean David and his wife, Boni; her granddaughter, Connie Twardowski and her husband, Terry; her great-grandchildren, Robert and Reagan David, and Austin, Brandon, Ryan, and Jonathan Twardowski; her brother, Joe Hajdik and his wife, Sofie; her sisters, Lillian Macha, Rosalie Antrich, Tillie Grigar, and Georgina Krejci; her sister-in-law, Marie Hajdik; her brother-in-law, Frank Polak; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. in Rosenberg.
