Bio

Mrs. Otto (Agnes) Hanak, Sr., age 95, of West passed away February 2, 1996 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:15 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Eulogy was read by her granddaughter, Shirley Nelson. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Hanak was born July 19, 1900 near West and had lived in the West area all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11. She was employed as a seamstress of Wolf's Manufacturing Company in West and Wood's Manufacturing Company in Hillsboro for a number of years. Mrs. Hanak is preceded in death by her husband, Otto Hanak in 1986 and two sons, Ben Hanak and Albert Hanak and one daughter, Mary Matus. Survivors include one son, Otto J. Hanak and daughter-in-law Pauline Hanak of West; one daughter, Mrs. L.A. Estelle Hykel of Abbott; one brother, Ed Matus of West; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Otto Hanak, III, Charlie Kolar, Edward Hykel, Richard Hykel, Marvin Matus and Wilburn Matus. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
