Hillsboro Reporter ESTELLE HYKEL Mrs. Estelle Hanak Hykel, 83, of West died Friday, August 2, at a West nursing home. She was born May 28, 1919 in Penelope, daughter of Otto and Agnes Matus Hanak. She married L.A. Hykel October 17, 1938 in West. She was a retired seamstress and homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott and the K.J.Z.T. Lodge No. 104. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Matus, two brothers, Ben and Albert Hanak, a son-in-law, Milton Degner and a brother-in-law, Louis Matus. Survivors include: her husband; two daughters, Mary Frances Degner of Waco and Jeanette Vrana and husband, Doug of China Spring; two sons, Edward Hykel and wife, Jeanette and Richard Hykel and wife, Dorothy, all of Troy; one brother Otto Hanak, Jr. and wife, Pauline of West; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hanak of West and Mildred Hanak of Arlington. Rosary was recited at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 4, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Mass of Christian burial followed at 2:15 p.m. with Rev. Ron Scheible, O.S.A. as celebrant. Burial followed at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott. Memorials may be made to West Rest Haven.
