Bio

Mary A. Marek, age 82, of Mesquite, formerly of West, died Friday in a Garland hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel, by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Marek was born February 11, 1908 in West, where she lived until she moved to Mesquite in 1954. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a member of S.P.J.S.T. and K.J.Z.T. of Dallas. She married Ed Marek, who preceded her in death October 5, 1950. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Gallia and son-in-law, August Gallia of Mesquite; two brothers, Henry Matus of West and Ed Matus of Waco; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Agnes) Hanak of West; one granddaughter, Connie Malek of Paradise; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Raymond Matus, Harry Matus, Raymond Marek, Cy Marek, Richard Hlavenka and Wilburn Matus.
