Funeral Services Held Wednesday For J.F. Matus J.F. Matus, 71, of Route 2, West, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday in a Marlin hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West. Rev. Gerald Smith officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery with military graveside services. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kotch Funeral Chapel. Mr. Matus was born in West and had lived here all his life. He was a retired farmer, a member of the KJT Lodge No. 31 of West, and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife; one son, Capt. Robert Joe Matus of Dyess AFB, Abilene; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Svacina and Mrs. Tony (Marcella) Kaska, both of West, Mrs. Edward (Carrie) Kaska of Arlington, Mrs. Donald (Lillian) Teeple of Japan, and Mrs. Bill (Joan) Weise of Waco; five brothers, Frank Matus, Will Matus, Rudolph Matus and Henry Matus, all of West, and Ed Matus of Waco; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Petter of Abbott, Mrs. Agnes Hanak and Mrs. Lillie Pavlas, both of West, and Mrs. Mary Marek of Dallas; 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Otto Matus and Clarence Matus of Bellmead, Harry Matus of Dallas, Albert Matus of West, Wilburn Matus of Waco and Richard Hlavenka of West.
