Bio

The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, November 10, 1932; pg. 3 Frank J. Karmazin, son of Frank Karmazin and Mary Karmazin, was born April 15, 1866, in Moravia, and died in Deweese October 29, 1932, at the age of 66 years, 6 months, and 14 days. He came to America with his parents in the fall of 1883. They settled in Nuckolls county (sic). He farmed in Nuckolls county (sic) until he retired to Deweese in 1925. He was united in marriage to Frances Mazour October 10, 1892, at St. Stephens Catholic church (sic). To this union were born eight children. Two infants preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Stella Svoboda, Mrs. Julia Skalka, Mrs. Mary Skalka, John Karmazin, Mrs. Rosie Skalka, and Miss Eva Karmazin all of Deweese; fifteen grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Karmazin; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kucera and Mrs. Antonia Herbeck (sic) all of Deweese. Joe Karmazin, Mrs. Frances Hlavac and Leo A. Karmazin preceded him in death. In the year 1925 he and his family moved to Deweese, where he lived until his death. He was an active member of the Deweese Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral services were held at the Deweese Catholic Church at 9:30 October 31 by the Rev. Ignac Skopal. Burial was in the Deweese cemetery. -- Fairfield Auxiliary.
