The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, May 22, 1947; pg. 1 FUNERAL RITES FOR THOS V. KARMAZIN SATURDAY Thomas V. Karmazin was born to the late Frank and Mary Karmazin in Moravia, March 7, 1864. He passed away at his home in Deweese, May 14, 1947. He came to this country from Moravia at the age of 19 in 1883. He was united in marriage to Josephine Mazour at St. Stephen's Catholic Church by Rev. Stulz on August 30 (sic), 1901 (sic). To this union were born ten children, two preceded him in death in infancy. He farmed east of Lawrence for thirty-two years and retired to Deweese in 1822 (sic). Although he had been in failing health for several years, he died suddenly. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Josephine, and the following children: Mrs. Mary Petr, Deweese; Thomas S. Karmazine (sic), Lawrece (sic); Mrs. Lulu Drudik, of Fairfield; Mrs. Cecelia Vap, Hastings, Julius, of Lawrence; Mrs. Frances Drudik, Lawrence; Mrs. Heddie Keeney, Manson, Wash.; Mrs. Rose Schriever, Nebraska City; (sic) Also 32 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Herbek, Sr., Deweese. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, May 17 at Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese. A solemn requiem high mass was officiated by Rev. G. Petrus as celebrant; Rev. O. H. Ekhamel of Weston, as deacon, Rev. B. Kalin of Lawrence, as sub-deacon, and Ivan Vap , a grandson, as Master of ceremonies. Rt. Rev. Msgr. F. J. Kopecky was present In the sanctuary. Pallbearers were six grandsons George Petr, George Karmazin, Edmund Drudik, Clarence Karmazine (sic), Robert Karmazin and Edward Petr. Others who attended from a distance were Ivan Vap, St. Louis Seminary, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bauer, Lincoln; Mrs. Mary Kotinek, Long Beach, Calif.; Dorothy Drudik, Grand Island; Agnes Drudik, Omaha; Edmund Drudik, Arthur, Ia.; LaVeta Drudik, Hastings; Eleanor Karmazin, Superior
