The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 18, 1956 Mrs. Henry W. Herbek, 77, a resident of the Deweese community since coming from Czechoslovakia when she was five years old, died Sunday at her home there. She had been ill over an extended time. Mrs. Herbeck is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Norbert Reining of Hastings, and six sons, George, Albert, Godfrey and Frank of Deweese and Joseph and Henry jr., of Lawrence. Recitation of the Rosary was Monday evening at 8 o'clock in Assumption Church; and Requiem Mass was offered by Father Edward Valasek at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning in Assumption Church. HENRY HERBEK Mrs. Antonia Herbek was born in Moravia on October 28, 1878, and passed away October 14, 1956 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 14 days, after a lingering illness. She came to this country, when 5 years old, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Karmazin. The deceased was married on May 15, 1900 to Henry W. Herbek Sr., at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence. They made their home on a farm six miles east of Lawrence until they retired, moving to Deweese where she remained until the time of her death. She was a loving, devout mother, active in the many church organizations. Mrs. Herbek is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Norbert Reining of Hastings, and six sons, George, Albert, Godfrey and Frank of Deweese, and Joseph and Henry Jr., of Lawrence; also 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children who died in infancy. Recitation of the Rosary was held Monday evening at 8 o'clock in Assumption Church; and Requiem Mass was offered by Father Edward Valasek at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning in Assumption Church. Pallbearers were Clem Kucera, Tony Svoboda, Thomas Herbek, Albert Herbek, Jr., Bernard Herbek and Arnold Lemke. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery at Deweese.
