Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, February 19, 1953; pg. 1 FRANTISKA KARMAZIN Frantiska Karmazin, daughter of Emos (sic) and Marie Mazour, was born August 27, 1875 in Moravie (sic) Czechoslovakia and died in Fairfield, Nebraska Frebruary (sic) 10, 1953 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Rudolph Skalka at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 13 days. She came to America with her parents in the year of 1884 and settled northwest of Deweese. She was united in marriage to Frank J. Karmazin October 10, 1892 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. They settled on a farm four miles south of Deweese in Nuckolls county (sic) until they retired to Deweese in 1925. To this union were born eight children, two children died in infancy. She is survived by the following children - Mrs. Estella Svoboda, Mrs. Julia Skalka, Mrs. Mary Skalka, John Karmazin all of Deweese, Mrs. Rosie V. Skalka of Fairfield, and Mrs. Eva M. Bauers of Lincoln, also 15 Grand children and 16 Great grand children. Since 1945 she made her home among her children until her death. She was an active member of her church. Recitation of the Rosary was held at 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Skalka. Requiem Mass was said at the Catholic church in Deweese at 9:30 A.M. February 13, 1953 with Rev. Father Gregory Petrus officiating. The pallbearers were six grandson (sic), Leo Skalka, Tony Svoboda, Joseph R. Skalka, Edward Skalka, Bernard Drudik and Stanley Skalka. Burial was in the Deweese Catholic Cemetery.
