Requiem Mass Held Thurs. For Joe A. Gerik Joe A. Gerik, 87, of West died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in a Hillsboro hospital. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Kotch Chapel in West. Requiem mass was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Gerik was born in Fayette County and had lived in the West area for the past 75 years. He was a retired farmer and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 and the KJT Lodge No. 31 of West. Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Adolph (Ella) Elles and Mrs. Jerry (Henrietta) Sembera, both of La Salle, Mrs. John L. (Lillian) Macicek, and Mrs. L. J. (Beatrice) Pustejovsky, both of West, Mrs. A. R. (Margaret) Franek of Harlingen and Mrs. L. J. (Mary Ann) Zatopek of Temple; two brothers, Frank J. Gerik of West and Jim Gerik of Waco; four sisters, Mrs. Louis (Millie) Kallus of Abbott, Mrs. Annie Karlik of Route 1, West, Mrs. Eugene (Mary) Cocek and Mrs. George (Rose) Lednicky, both of West; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Cocek, Freddie Gerik, Walter Kramolis, Joe Stepan, Randy Franek and Jimmy Elles.
