Minna Lemke was born 7 Sept 1880 on her parents farm in Jefferson township, Bremer County, IA. Her parents, Julius and Paulina (Neske) Lemke were immigrants from Posen, Prussia. Shortly after Minna's birth, her parents sold the farm and moved on to Minnesota and then moved to Chelsea, Taylor, WI where they homesteaded a property. When Minna was 9, her father was killed in a tragic logging accident, her mother taken away when she couldn't cope with the tragedy, her siblings given away to homes who would take them in in exchange for unpaid work. Minna was only 9 and we don't know where she was sent, but she was nervous around men later in life. In 1903 she married Frank Buchanan. They had only one child who died as a baby. Minna had a nervous breakdown and was sent to an asylum like her mother. Her husband, Frank, visited her and fell asleep at the wheel returning from a trip and was killed. Minna died in a nursing home in Crosby. Minnie was living in Rabbit Lake Township, Crow Wing Co, MN in 1910 , age 29, Born in Iowa of German born parents, married 6 years with no children, to Frank S. Buchanan, age 35, born in Iowa who was a hotel keeper. In 1920, Jan 13-14, Minnie was living at Fergus Falls Asylum for the insane, Otter Tail County, MN, age 38, born in Iowa of German parents. Her husband, Frank was 45, born in Iowa, a delivery car driver in Crow Wing Co., MN. He visited Minnie often and was killed in a car accident returning from a visit. Minnie was living in Anoka, Anoka, MN at the Anoka County Asylum in 7 Apr 1930 census. Minnie was married, age 48 born in Iowa, Parents born in Germany.
