LAST RITES HELD FOR FORMER CAMP RESIDENT Funeral services were held at Camp Douglas Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Oscar Olson,66, who passed away at a LaCrosse Hospital Thursday May 8. Rev. G.F. Albrecht officiated at the burial services and interment was in Camp Douglas Cemetery. Emma Louise Olson was born in Taylor County on Nov 13, 1886 and passed away May 8, 1952 at the age of 66 years, 5 months, 28 days. She was the eighth child of Julius and Paulina Lemke. Orphaned at an early age, she was adopted by Anna and William Battalia, living with them until her marriage to Oscar H. Olson on March 30, 1903. They made their home in Camp Douglas after their marriage for 42 years. They later moved to LaCrosse where they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in March of this year with all their children present. Five children were born to this union viz: Fern, who preceded her mother in death, Forrest of LaCrosse, Charles of Peoria,IL, Bonadean (Mrs. Robert Kemp)and Phyllis (Mrs. Robert Kirchner) both of LaCrosse. Also mourning her loss are nine grandchildren. Mrs. Olson was baptized and confirmed at the Indian Creek Lutheran Church at Clifton. She was a faithful Christian wife and mother and attended church regularly. She was active in church work until her failing health kept her confined to her home.
