Bio

Anton J. Herl, 87, Munjor Route, died Sunday, Sept. 20 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born Dec. 1, 1893 at Munjor, the son of Hieronimus and Rosalia Schumacher Herl. He married Katie Kippes in Munjor on May 12, 1917; she died in 1976. He was a retired farmer and a life resident of Ellis County. Survivors include six sons, Larry, Kansas City, Mo., Elmer, Overland Park, Rich, Munjor, Clifford, Liberal, James, Chicago, and Virgil, Hays; four daughters, Sister Flavia, Hays, Mrs. Eleanor Simms, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Lorraine Boyle, Shawnee Mission, and Gilda, of the home; two brothers, Paul, Quinter, and Frank, Dodge City; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Dreiling, Victoria, and Julia Herl, Hays; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor; burial was in the church cemetery. Ellis County Star, 9/24/1981
