Joe D. (J.D.) Mathis was born the daughter of Joseph DeKalb Mathis and was born 5 weeks after her father had died on 24 Nov 1905 in Pritchett, Upshur Co., Texas. Her mother, Mary Elizabeth Steelman (1870- 1926), had married Mr. Mathis after the death of his second wife. J.D. married William Austin Parker (1900 – 1983) and they had 4 children, Billie R. Parker (1926 – ); Franklin Louis Parker (1928 – ); Marian Parker (1933 – ); and Joy Dale Parker (1944 – ). The Parkers lived in Dallas, Texas later in life where J.D. and Mr. Parker died.
