Published in the Local Paper provided by Payne Funeral Home Wood Funeral Rites Held Funeral services for John Andrew Wood, 89, were held Saturday afternoon at the Amherst First Baptist Church, Elders V. J. Lowrance of Lubbock and Donald D. Day of Canyon officiated. Arrangements by Payne Funeral Home, with burial in the Amherst Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers. Wood, a long-time area farmer, moved to Lamb County from Wellington, and his home was south of Amherst. He died Thursday, Oct. 12, at the home of his son in Muleshoe. Survivors include his wife; three sons, A.V. Wood of Muleshoe, Payne Wood of Lubbock, and W. A. Wood of Glenrose; seven daughters, Mrs. Floyd Seymore of Sudan, Mrs. Grace Ball of Littlefield, Mrs. Nova Dorsey of Muleshoe, Mrs. Johnnie Ray McCord of Hutchins, Mrs. Ethel Boisclair of South San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Blassingame of Baldwin Park, Calif. and Mrs. Neva Bradley of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, William Wood of Lelia Lake, Jack Wood of Glenrose and Fred of Wheeler; two sisters, Mrs. Effie May Berry of Wellington and Mrs. Myrtle Darrow of Shamrock; 41 grandchildren and 91 great-grandchildren.
