Bio
Alvin Gerhard Karl "A.G." Domel was the eldest of the 12 surviving children of Adolf Domel and wife Selma Kalmbach. His first language was German and his ancestry was Wendish on both sides. A.G's father immigrated as a child from Germany to central Texas, and his mother was first generation born to Wendish immigrants. A.G. was born and lived his entire life near Walburg, Williamson County Texas. He was baptized at, and attended as a youth and his entire adult life, Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas. He rang the church steeple bells every week for the church services, for about 50 years. A.G. married Olga Emilie Herzog on 14 Jul 1929 at Christ Lutheran Church, Loebau, Lee County, Texas. One son was born during A.G. and Olga's marriage, Edwin Alfred Carl Domel. The young family is living with A.G.'s parents on their farm, on the 1930 census, Williamson County. A.G. and Olga and young Edwin then move to sharecrop the nearby Sonny Kurio farm in Weir, where they will live until A.G.'s death. Son Edwin predeceases his parents, passing away at the same farmhouse, while there with his own wife and children visiting "Granny and Pappy" at Christmas. Services held (Monday) at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg. BORN 9/24/1906. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Olga Domel of Georgetown; brothers, Adolph and George, both of Georgetown, Robert of Thorndale, Bert of Giddings; sisters, Mrs. Minnie Herzog, Mrs. Selma Noack, Mrs. Elizabeth Marak, all of Georgetown, Mrs. Hulda Marburger of Jarrell, Mrs. Leona Hallmark of Beaumont, Mrs. Alice Holderieth of Houston; 3 grandchildren.
