Funeral services for Joe Stanislav of Rt. 1, Aquilla were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 25 in Compton's Chapel, Waco. Msgr. J. J. Kearns officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Waco. Joe Stanislav, 62, former constable and long-time West resident, was killed as a result of a bullet wound received at Stanislav's "Big Joe's" tavern on the county line road between McLennan and Hill Counties at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 16... ...Mr. Stanislav is survived by three sons, Alfred Stanislav of San Antonio, Joseph Stanislav and Robert Stanislav, both of Waco; three brothers, Dr. Frank Stanislav of Waco, Rudolph Stanislav and August Stanislav, both of West; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Opella and Miss Bertha Stanislav, both of West; five grandchildren.
