Bio
Mrs. Mary Opella, age 95, of Houston, formerly of West, passed away Tuesday morning in a Houston nursing home. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Bural will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Opella was born June 4, 1899 in West and had lived all of her life there, before moving to Houston seven years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the K.J.Z.T. Society #31 of West and Catholic Daughters of the America Court #829 of West. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Opella, who died in 1938. Survivors include one son, Jerry Opella of Houston, one daughter, Rose Marie Dumay of Houston, six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Kotch Funeral Home of West is in charge of arrangements.
