Bio

Robert was the son of Joseph and Martha (Mashek) Stanislav. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from West High School in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving during the Korean War on the USS George K. McKenzie and USS Nicholas. On October 13, 1956, he married Barbara Jean Parma in Waco. At the time of his death, they were making special plans to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He worked as a PowerHouse Foreman at General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for over thirty years until his retirement in 1985. He was very active in many community and civic organizations, including V.F.W. Post #4819, where he served as an Honor Guard, American Legion, K.J.T., West Fraternal Organization, Catholic Life, Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 3rd & 4th Degree Knight, The Czech Folk Dancers of West, and a past member of the St. Mary's Quarterback Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher. Robert loved being around people and celebrating his Czech culture. He enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family and friends who loved him very much. Robert & Barbara could often be found traveling the country and dancing with their special friends from the "Polka of A" group. He loved spending time with his eight grandchildren, camping, fishing and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. He also enjoyed homemade wine making, and his vintages were often highly sought after for community benefits and auctions. A brother, Alfred "Fritz" Stanislav most recently preceded him in death and his wife Margaret.
