GREAT BEND - Joseph F. Oborny, 90, died Wednesday at the Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. Born Jan. 11, 1890, at Skyler, Neb. He married Rose Krotz Jan. 19, 1915, at Pilsen. She died in 1965. He was a retired farmer and longtime resident of the area. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Great Bend; and the Catholic Workmens Lodge. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Mary Gerstenkorn; Helen Vsetecka, both of Great Bend; Mrs. Rose Suchy, Emporia; Mrs. Elsie Vsetecka, Wakeeney; brothers, Ed, Gene, Jerry, all of Timken; Rudolph, Rush Center; sisters, Mrs. Mary Sticka, Marion; Mrs. Alvina Mattas, Wilson; Mrs. Blanche Baxa, Arva; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren. Family rosary 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brantley-Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Parish rosary 7:30 p.m Friday at the funeral home. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church; Father Gerold Hammeke. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials to the church Hutchinson News August 20, 1981
