RUSH CENTER — Rudolf "Rudy" J. Oborny, 92, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at the Rush County Memorial Hospital, LaCrosse. He was born April 14, 1904, in Schuyler, Neb., to John F. and Josephine (Jedlicka) Oborny. In 1905 he came with his parents to Bison. He attended Olny School in Rush County. He moved to Crete, Neb. where he was employed. He married Rose B. Divis on Nov. 26,1935, in Schuyler, Neb. They moved to Bison and later to a farm northeast of Rush Center. A long time area resident, he was a farmer. He became a resident of the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in February 1994. He was an accordion player and a member of the the Oborny Band during the 1920s, 1940s and 1950s. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken. He was a charter member of the Catholic Workman Lodge Branch, former member board member of the Timken Co-op, and an agent for Farmers Mutual Insurance, Ellinwood, for 46 years. Survivors include his wife, La Crosse; and a sister, Albina Mattas, Wilson He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Joe, John, Charlie, Frank, Ed, Louis, Jean, and Jerry Oborny, and seven sisters, Toni Stejskal, Mary Stika, Anna Jecha, Sister Helen Oborny, Blanche Baxa, and two in infancy, Anna Oborny and Josephine Oborny. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, with Fathers Ultan Murphy, Eugene Kenny and Henry Baxa officiating; burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery, rural Timken.
