Joseph Edward "Joe" Wertish was born on 16 September 1939, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Edward Stephen and Marie Angela Goblish Wertish. On 27 April 1963, Joe married Donna L. Grejtak at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He was a member of the Victoria Lions Club for several years. Joe collected toy tractors; and, enjoyed working in his woodshop, gardening, keeping his lawn looking impeccable, making wooden toys, and going to thrashing bees. Joseph Edward Wertish, from Victoria, Minnesota, died at the age of 70 on Sunday, 27 December 2009 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Joe was survived by his wife, Donna; children and spouses, Sheryl and Neil Gruenhagen of Belle Plaine, Jeff and Kera Wertish of Ellendale, and Corey and Michelle Wertish of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren, Brandon and Jackie Wertish, Samantha Wertish, Jared Wertish, Ryan Wertish; great-grandson, Matthew Wertish; mother, Marie Angela Wertish of Olivia; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Theresa Wertish of Redwood Falls; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Daniel Borth of Fairfax, Rose Anne and John Lee of Sacred Heart, Linda and Gary Sorensen of Gillette, Wyoming, Mary Enesvedt of Sacred Heart; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gary Grejtak of Kelleyville, Oklahoma, Richard and Nancy Grejtak of Delhi, Dale Grejtak of Tucson, Arizona, Gayle and Ken Martin of Kelleyville, Oklahoma, Tamara and Rick Huls of Hector, and Brad and Sheri Grejtak of Hutchinson; nieces and nephews; and, other relatives, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Edward Stephen Wertish; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Eula Grejtak; and, brother-in-law, Curt Grejtak. Visitation for Joe was on Wednesday, 30 December from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia; and, for one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, 31 December 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Victoria Historic Catholic Church in Victoria. Father Bob White was the celebrant of the Mass. Casket bearers were John Goblish, Dick Alpaugh, Ivan Clarke, Gordon Nix, Dale Mude, and John, Jeremy, and Michael Lee.
