Christian Friedrich Karl Schwarz was baptized August 14, 1892, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Gay Hill, Washington County, Texas. His baptismal sponsors were Christian Gaskamp, Friedrich Wiethorn, and Karl Blum, Jr. Carl Schwarz married Blanche Matilda Kattner on January 31, 1915. **************************************************************************** OBITUARY FROM THE TAYLOR DAILY NEWS: Carl C. Schwarz Carl Christian Schwarz, 98, of Taylor, died Sunday, March 17, 1991, in Johns Community Hospital in Taylor. Mr. Schwarz was born in Washington County, Texas on July 22, 1892, and had lived in the Taylor-Thorndale area for 96 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Mathilda Kattner Schwarz in 1970, and a daughter, Mrs. Edna Mariana Lannen in 1984. During his long, active life, he made farming his occupation, spending his first 42 years on his parents' homestead, then 22 years south of Taylor. For 54 years, he was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Family visitation will be Monday night at Condra Memorial Chapel from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Condra Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Letalien officiating, assisted by Dr. Noble Atkins. Pallbearers will be Steven Schwarz, Cody Greer, Dr. Crawford Daniel, Harry Schwarz, Arthur Schwarz, and Clarence Walther. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Delphine Leverne Paine and her husband William of Evergreen, Colo.; a son, Clarence Charles Schwarz and his wife, Barbara of Taylor; two grandchildren, Sarah Faye Schwarz of San Antonio and Steven Dykes Schwarz and wife Joey of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Schwarz; three sisters, Frieda Becker, Clara Kerlin, Beatrice Kerlin, all of Taylor. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.
