"ANTON V. POKORNY ONAWA, Ia.--Special: Anton V. Pokorny, 80, a resident of Monona county since 1936, died Wednesday at his home here after a short illness. Mr. Pokorny was born April 21, 1876, at Venice, Monrovia. He came to the United States in 1879, and settled near Wahoo, Neb. He married Antonia Divis October 14, 1901, at Brainard, Neb. They moved to Monona county in 1936 and farmed here until retiring to Onawa in 1945. Mr. Pokorny was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church here, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Workmen of America. Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Verna Fujan and Mrs. Helen Maly, both of Colon, Neb., Mrs. Mary Stanislav of Onawa and Mrs. Antonia Ratkovec of Valparaiso, Neb.; six sons, Anthony of Topeka, Kan., William of Bryant, Ia., George of Oakridge, Ore., Albert of Decorah, Ia., Andrew of Harlan, Ia., and Edward of Falls City, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Davis of Ulysses, Neb., Mrs. Tillie Kubista of Wahoo and Mrs. Anna Maxiner of Omaha; three brothers, Joseph of Wilber, Neb., Ludwig of Valparaiso and John of Omaha; 47 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Assumption Catholic church at Dwight, Neb. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Pearson funeral home of Onawa.
