Topeka Capital-Journal: ROCKPORT, Texas--Anthony J. "Tony" Pokorny, 90, Rockport, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, in Rockport. Mr. Pokorny farmed in Nebraska and Iowa. He was a well-known breeder of spotted Poland China pigs and had won several state championships. He later became a salesman and a social worker. He was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Dwight, Neb., the son of Anton and Antonia Pokorny. He moved to Rockport in 1977. Mr. Pokorny was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport, and a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus councils in Topeka, Kan. and Rockport. He married Lucille Berberich on May 11, 1932. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dwight Pokorny,Topeka and Chris Pokorny, Las Vegas; five daughters: Marcella Muller, San Antonio, Texas, Angela Kerin, Montesano, Wash., Rosalie Negus, Topeka, Shirley Cohn, Corrales, N.M. and Frances Chupalio, Milford Pa.; five brothers, Edward, Andrew, Albert, George and Bill; a sister, Antonia Ratkovec; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a. m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport. Burial will be in the Aransas Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School, 111 N. Church St., Rockport, Texas 78382. Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport is in charge of arrangements.
