Bio

The funeral for Antonia M. Ratkovec, 98, of Valparaiso will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso. She died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in David City. Antonia Pokorny was born March 14, 1905, in Dwight. Survivors include: two daughters, Dorothy Hula of Valparaiso and Deloras (Mrs. George) Coufal of Brainard; two sons, LeRoy (and wife, Sylvia) Ratkovec of Valparaiso and Marvin (and wife, Mary Ann) Ratkovec of David City; four brothers, George Pokorny of Ore., Andrew Pokorny, William Pokorny and Edward Pokorny, all of Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Louis Ratkovek; her parents; four sisters, Mary, Verna, Helen and Blanche; three brothers, Anthony, Albert and Jim; two sons-in-law, Alfred Kliment and Adolph Hula; a grandson, Gary Hula; and a great-grandson, Troy Quinian. The Rev. Thomas Kuffel will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Wadlow-Rozanek Funeral Chapel in Valparaiso. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Plasi Cemetery in Plasi. Pallbearers include: Bob Kliment, Michael Hula, David Ratkovec, George Coufal Jr., Scott Poskochil and Robbie Korande.
