Born to Anton V. and Antonia Divis Pokorny, he married Beryl L. Sires on Aug. 4, 1956, in Decorah, Iowa. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Reggie (and Deborah), Dan (and Julie), Joe (and Susan) and Rick (and Amanda); four brothers, George, Andrew, Bill and Edward; and one sister, Antonia Ratkovec. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. He retired from Skelly Oil Co. in 1982. He drove a school bus in Fulton and Mason counties after retiring. He also worked for area farmers. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408, where he was commander from 1983 to 1984. He was a member of Chautauqua Sportsman's Club, where he served on the board for many years. He was a member of Polka Club of America and Knights of Columbus.
