******************************************** Edward S. Pokorny, 83, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 26, 2009 at Falls City. He was born December 26, 1925 at Waverly, NE to the late Antonio and Antonia (Hofpar) Pokorny. Ed served in the U. S. Navy during World Ward II. On November 19, 1946 he married Lucille Coufal at Loma, NE. She passed away January 1, 1993. Ed was raised at Onawa, IA and graduated from Onawa High School. Following graduation he entered the US Navy and served during WWII. After his honorable discharge he became a truck driver for Brainard Transfer. He joined the State Patrol as a Trooper in 1951 and retired in 1977. He then worked for Edde Motors of Falls City for four years. He was a State Liquor Agent for 21 years, retiring in 2002. He had served on the Falls City Council and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Falls City. Ed is survived by his sons, Allen and his wife Kathy of Axtell, KS, Herb and his wife Teri of Newman Grove, NE, Steve of Auburn, NE, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Amy Jo Brown, six brothers and five sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert A. Roh as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. A Parish Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral. The family will receive friends following the rosary. (dorrandclark.com/obituary)
