Mrs. Katie Punteney, 74, Dies at Hastings Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Punteney **, who passed away at a nursing home in Hastings at the age of 74 on Wednesday, Dec. 12, were conducted Friday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Jensen, pastor of the Congregational-Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vernon Effle, Harold Effle, Lester Effle, Leslie Erickson, Dale Mitteis and Foy George. Katie Effle, daughter of Mary and Nicholas Effle, was born Aug. 31, 1882. The family lived on a farm near Venus. It was in that community that she attended school and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Albert Claude Webster at O'Neill. Two children were born to them, William and Zelda. The couple established their residence on a farm near Royal, where they lived about 20 years. She then moved into Royal and from there moved to Hastings. She is survived by her son, William G. Webster of Hastings; her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Shupe pf Wayne; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one brother, Jake Effle of Creighton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Hale and five brothers, Frank, Mike, Nick, John and Ben Effle.
