Last Rites Thursday Last Week for Ben Effle at Creighton Church Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock on May 13 at the Congregational Baptist church in Creighton for Ben Effle, a pioneer resident of Knox county for 55 years, who passed away at the Plainview hospital Monday evening, May 10 at 6:40. Rev. Bond of the Congregational Baptist church of Creighton conducted the services. Pallbearers were B.O. Darr, Perry Adams Sr., T.E. Tikalsky, Walt Prischmann, R. Gabler and F. Rokahr. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery at Creighton. A native of Knox county, Mr. Effle had lived all his life on the place he farmed near Venus. Mr. Effle enjoyed good health up until the last year of his life and took great pleasure in his work. He loved his home and took great pride in the improvements he could fashion with his own hands. His wife, all of his children and one sister, Mrs. Katie Punteney, were able to be near him during the last days of his intense suffering. He bore his suffering bravely and was ever considerate of those who cared for him. Survivors are his wife and three sons, Harold of Walnut, Lester of Walnut and Vernon at home. He leaves five grandchildren and three brothers, Jake of Chadron, Frank of Oregon and John of California and one sister, Mrs. Katie Punteney. Among the many relatives and friends, who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Cherney of Cedar Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. August Roumplif of Central City; Mr. and Mrs. Albert McDonald of Morse Bluffs, Dr. and Mrs. Gorden Shupe of Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Vinc Jehorek of Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Effle of Chardron and Mrs. Katie Punteney and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Webster of Plainview.
