Rosenberg Herald, August 29, 1941: Funeral services for Edwin Steffek, age 19 years, were held Monday morning, August 25, 1941. Services were held at the family home in Needville at 8:30 o'clock and from the Needville Catholic church at 9 o'clock, with Rev. Joseph Kloubouk and Rev. J.J. Tydlacka officiating. Burial took place in the Needville Catholic cemetery, The Rosenberg Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Steffek passed away Saturday, August 23, 1911, following a short illness. He was born at Weimar, Texas on November 17, 1922. He moved to Needville with his parents at the age of four years and remained there until his death. Deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Steffek; four brothers, Victor Steffek of Houston, Johnnie Steffek of El Campo, Emil Steffek of Louisiana, and Jerry Steffek of Needville; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Zwahr of Long Point, Miss Marcella Steffek of Rosenberg, and Misses Cecilia, Martha, Alma, Evelyn, and Loretta, all of Needville; one grandfather; and a number of other relatives and friends. The parents and other loved ones have the sympathy of their host of friends in the death of this young man who passed away at the tender age of nineteen years.
