Bio

Oepke Feekes, 87, of Sioux Center died Monday, April 11, in a hospital in Sioux Center. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Carmel Reformed Church. The Rev. Virgil Dykstra officiated. Burial was in the Carmel Cemetery. Visitation was from 7 to 8:30 p:ni, Tuesday, April 12, in the Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Feekes was born Oct. 13, 1895, in Carmel. He married Johanna Sandbulte Feb. 23, 1922, in Sioux Center. They lived in the Carmel and Sioux Center areas, moving to Sioux Center in 1947. She died in 1974. Mr. Feekes served on the board of the Co-operative Produce and the Co-operative Gas and Oil Co. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Carmel Reformed Church and the American Legion. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Katherine) Den Herder of Sioux Center; a son, Arnold of Sioux Center; a brother, William of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Gerrit (Ettie) Schoep and Mrs. William (Minnie) Van Berkum, both of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
